Description
Our KPV 5mg vial holds 5mg of lyophilized KPV, an alpha-MSH derived tripeptide. This batch tested at 99.85% purity. It’s intended for lab research only.
KPV at a glance
KPV is the tripeptide lysine-proline-valine, the C-terminal end of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone. It keeps alpha-MSH’s anti-inflammatory activity without the pigment effects.
It’s small enough to be taken up by gut cells through the PepT1 transporter, which is why it’s studied in models of gut inflammation.
How KPV works
Alpha-MSH calms inflammation through melanocortin receptors. KPV is its last three amino acids and keeps much of that anti-inflammatory activity.
Inside cells it lowers NF-kappaB signaling, the switch for many inflammatory genes. Gut cells take it up through the PepT1 transporter, which is why colitis models are where most of the work is.

KPV research
Dalmasso and colleagues reported in Gastroenterology (2008) that KPV reduced inflammation in mouse colitis models and was taken up through PepT1.
Laroui and colleagues later packaged KPV in nanoparticles and saw similar effects in mice.

KPV 5mg vs related compounds
KPV 5mg is easier to place once you see it next to the compounds it’s usually compared with. KPV is a three-amino-acid alpha-MSH fragment studied for calming inflammation. The others:
- BPC-157 is the 15-amino-acid repair peptide with the largest body of rodent research
- TB-500 is the 43-amino-acid actin-binding protein, studied for cell movement and wound repair
- ARA-290 is an 11-amino-acid peptide from erythropoietin that protects tissue without raising red cells
- GHK-Cu is the copper-binding tripeptide studied for collagen and skin repair
These are the main peptides in repair research. Each covers a different step, from blood vessel growth and cell movement to calming inflammation and rebuilding the skin matrix. See them all on our healing and recovery peptides page.
KPV 5mg purity and testing
The current batch of KPV 5mg tested at 99.85% purity by mass spectrometry and UV (HPLC) analysis. That figure comes from the batch report, not a marketing estimate, and it’s the reason we list the exact number instead of rounding up.
Note the batch number on the label when the vial arrives. That’s what the certificate of analysis is filed under, and we’ll send you a copy on request.
Keep the batch number with your records. It’s the quickest way to match a vial to its paperwork later.
KPV 5mg reconstitution and concentration
Concentration is the amount in the vial divided by the liquid you add. With 5mg in this vial:
- 1mL of water gives 5mg/mL
- 2mL of water gives 2.5mg/mL
- 3mL of water gives 1.67mg/mL
Pick the volume that keeps your own calculations simple, then write the concentration and the mixing date on the label.
Bacteriostatic water is the usual choice. Add it slowly so it runs down the side of the vial, then swirl or roll until everything dissolves. Shaking can shear peptide chains. Skip it.
KPV 5mg storage and shelf life
Freeze-dried KPV 5mg is stable at room temperature for shipping, but for anything longer keep it in a freezer at -20°C, away from light. Once mixed, keep it in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and use it within about four weeks.
A 10-slot vial case keeps open and sealed vials upright and apart, which makes the fridge shelf a lot easier to manage. For transport, the Blue Sky hard storage box is the sturdier option.
