S4 (andarine) at a glance
S4 (andarine, also GTx-007) is one of the first nonsteroidal SARMs, developed by GTx Inc. alongside ostarine. It’s a partial agonist at the androgen receptor, and in rats it built muscle and bone while having much less effect on the prostate.
Development stopped before late clinical trials. It’s on the WADA prohibited list.
How S4 Andarine acts in the lab
S4 binds the androgen receptor as a partial agonist. In muscle and bone it gives close to a full response, while in the prostate it gives a weaker one, and in the presence of full androgens it can even compete with them there.
That partial agonism is the main point of interest. Researchers use S4 to study how a receptor that’s only half switched on behaves in different tissues.

S4 Andarine research
Gao and colleagues reported in Endocrinology in 2005 that S4 restored muscle and bone in castrated rats. Kearbey and colleagues later showed it reduced bone loss in ovariectomized rats.
S4 is also known for binding androgen receptors in the eye, and animal studies linked it to changes in vision, which is one reason development didn’t go further.

The concentration is 25mg/mL, so the math is simple: every 1mL holds 25mg, and every 0.1mL holds 2.5mg. The whole 30mL bottle holds 750mg.
